Some Kauai Photos:
Here's a shot of "Tunnels", on the north shore of Kauai, a very popular snorkelling spot. "Bali Hai", known as "Your Special Island" in the movie "South Pacific" is in the background. ![]() Princeville Shopping... ![]() Ocean #1 at Princeville ![]() Church in Hanalei Town ![]() The pier at Hanalei Bay ![]() Ching Young Village ![]() Taro Fields in Hanalei ![]() Sunset ![]() Last edited by scirocco22; 05-28-2007 at 03:07 PM. Someone here, or in a direct response to me asked "What is a taro field?"
Taro (Kalo) is and was a staple of the Hawaiian diet. It is the basis for poi. Here is a discussion from Wikipedia: Taro - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Taro fields were the mainstay of a Hawaiian village, and are part of the Hawaiian culture. Their restoration is important in the preservation of the Hawaiian tradition. Here is and example of current thinking: East Maui Taro Festival and more information: Crop Profiles Hank |

Looks like this thread is no longer "sticky", so if no one posts more photos, it will pretty well disappear.

Exactly, Hank. I'm trying to figure out a way to do this without irritating the management of this site. They seem not to want to make things sticky and they unstuck our Picture Thread. ![]() I'll keep trying for a resolution but in the meantime, you're right, keep posting pictures to keep this thread from disappearing down the list! ![]() |
