A drought huh ? LOL....Yea, maybe I brought it with me from Burbank
I was like "wow, this isn't THAT rainy".

Konafornia, yea, I've heard that. Maybe that is why I like it there.

That being said, Hilo is pretty cool, and the Hamakua coast is just amazing.

I grew up haole in Laie, Hawaii on Oahu and it was an incredible and wonderful experience. It was hard at times when I was in elementary school and even high school just because I didn't talk pigeon or whatever, but my memories are mostly positive ones. We moved to the mainland after I graduated from high school and I miss Hawaii a lot.

My advice? Don't ever act like you're better than the locals cause it's their home land and I think anyone would get defensive if a stranger moved in and acted like they own the place. Also - embrace the culture! You'll be surrounded by wonderful people who eminate the "aloha spirit" and they will LOVE you if you love them back.

My husband is from the mainland but we've talked about moving to Hawaii when we're older so we can get away from the cold weather. Good luck whatever you do!
