I realize this might not be the best place to post my question, since most of the people who hang out on this forum probably live in Hawaii and aren't accustomed to questions of this sort, but...

My husband and I are thinking about going to Hawaii for our 40th wedding anniversary in June. We're in our 60s and are getting to the point where a tour is sounding more and more appealing. (In the past, we'd have just set out on our own, and we may still do that.) There have got to be thousands of tour companies that have tours to Hawaii and we don't even know where to start in deciding on one. I'd love to do a Tauck Tour since I've heard they do a phenomenal job, but they are SO expensive. Anyway, if anybody could recommend a good tour company, I'd really appreciate it.

the cruise ships do a nice tour. think you pick it up in Oahu and it takes you all around the islands. I have several friends that have done it and loved it. I think several companies offer the trips

Yeah, the current inter-island cruise ships are NCL lines and they are mostly newer ships. The small inter-island cruise ships we had before, the Independence and the Constitution, were retired in the late 90's, I think it was. I saw a cruise ship go past last week which seemed to have a huge outdoor movie screen in the middle of the ship. Dunno which line that was, though, it was getting towards dark and all we could see were the lights and the big movie screen.

Other than cruise ships, a lot of folks go with the Roberts tour groups, although most of the folks I know who use the Roberts go with the Robert's "overnighters" where they book a flight/rental car/hotel for when they want to go to another island.

To my knowledge Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is one of the few cruise companies that stop at most of the major Hawaiian Islands.

Here is a site of Vacations to Go that offers discounted booking and special discounts for various groups and seniors:

www.vacationstogo.com

It looks like the Hawaiian Island cruises starts at $999 and depart Honolulu.
