Hello All,

On the lighter side.....I thought i would share with you at least 10 things that I saw in Hawaii that I have never seen elsewhere in the US (or anywhere else in the world for that matter....please feel free to add...
  1. At a senior management meeting one of the Board of Directors brought his surfboard to the meeting place it down on the floor and was practicing his stand-up during the 10 minute break.
  2. A police officer eating shaved ice while doing traffic duty.
  3. Fire trucks with surfboards on them.
  4. School soccer game starting at 9:30 pm....team waiting for water bottles to be delivered!
  5. Chickens on the lawn of the state government building.
  6. A cockroach carrying a ciggarett....yes it was that big!
  7. Bank employees coming to work in slippas.
  8. A sign at the DMV that states for those taking a driving test "Accents May Result in Test Failure".....the operative word is "May"!
  9. A purple sunset. The whole sky was purple...
  10. Someone passing me food at a UH football game that I didn't know...I thought that was amazing....I did the same thing at the next game...the lady sitting behind me accepted, took a small piece and smiled at me....

Manapua and Musubi at 7-11's
Spam - Jam Festival in Honolulu
People living on beaches - Not to offend anyone but you don't see that anywhere on the mainland

I'd say the McDonalds menu and $6 - $8 for a gallon of milk!!

Not to mention the empty shelves of Spam and more raised trucks than anywhere in the world!!

One last thing...I have never been anywhere on the mainland that people don't use their horns or that as general rule always let you out in front of them. You never here a horn in anger in Hawaii. I love that!!

The only Royal Palace in the U.S. - Iolani Palace; smack dab in the middle of Honolulu.

The "Shaka" sign (though it's becoming popular elsewhere).

A pink hotel that represents luxury (Royal Hawaiian).

No fishing license required. Fishing is an inherent right.
All beaches are public. No private ownership allowed.
A constantly active volcano.
KTA clerks who carefully tape your egg carton closed before bagging the groceries.
Doors that are never locked; windows that are never closed; houses with neither, just screens.
Asking your neighbors' permission to pick all their plumerias for your daughter's graduation lei, and they graciously and happily agree. Sincerely.
Constant sharing of produce between friends, neighbors, total strangers.
