Are you sure you have "Plan C"? If you have a C plan you have a medicare advantage plan. Are you sure you don't have F? C is the same thing as a Medicare Advantage plan.

My plan is called the Medicare Supplement Plan C from AARP. I still have my standard Medicare card. My AARP plan pays whatever Medicare did not cover, the 20% and all gaps and deductables.

Then that explains why your premiums are so high...you have a Medicare Advantage plan, that is what C is, but you bought an expensive one that covers everything and appears to have a large or nationwide network. Nothing wrong with that but you do need to understand what you have.

No you are not correct. MA plans are where you sign over your standard medicare to the insurance company. I have Medicare. My Dr's put their bills into the US Govt Medicare plan. Whatever Medicare does not pay for then my AARP package kicks in and pays the rest.

This is what I DO NOT have:
Medicare Advantage Plans | Medicare.gov

This is what I have:

I have my AARP booklet in front of me. It says welcome to your AARP Medicare Supplement Plan C. So I don't know what to tell you. They refer to it as Plan C. Either way there were zero choices on that plan. You either take that plan (no other options) or go on an Advantage Plan which is networks. I pay the Medicare fee and ~$350 fee to United every month plus another $40 for prescriptions. It's not cheap.

You have AARP's Plan C....not PART C....which is one of their most expensive plans...which is why you pay so much...

Yep ;its highly dependent on state insurance board on even medigap coverage still.Really no different than advantage plans vary in terms and cost in different states.Remmeber states lobbied very hard to keep control and not to allow across state selling of policies under the ACA. In fact a amendment to ACA was presented in senate committee to allow it but was not allowed to be voted on by Democratic majority. The strange part was democrat from Washington state introduced it.
