There is a discrepancy in renewing the Walmart Humana Medicare Drug Supplement:
In Iowa anyway the 2014 renewal booklet Humana sent out said that they are changing the name from Humana Walmart Preferred RX plan to Humana Preferred Rx plan and increasing the rates from $18.50 to $22.80.
If you look at the medicare.gov site for my area they list a 2014 Humana Walmart RX plan for $12.80 a month.
A couple possibilities come to mind:
1. The Humana book is incorrect (they printed it before coming to terms with Walmart) or
2. The Humana books is correct and one would need to switch to this Humana Walmart RX plan
Anyone else see this and find out what is happening?
Thank you. It appears that Humana is running a scam: the individuals who sign up for the cheap Humana Walmart plan are automatically switched to the more expensive Humana Preferred RX Plan at renewal, instead of staying with the Humana Walmart Plan. So people who want to continue with the Humana Walmart plan will have to rejoin every year.
I had the same questions, how can they just automatically change plans on you? Guess I'll have to call or maybe look at other plans with a different company but it does seem like a semi-scam to me.
I think the work scam might be a little premature. I am not sure on all the workings of these part D plans, but they often change the plan and costs yearly. I had just the opposite happen last year. I was on the most expensive plan of another company ($59.) and the following year they changed me over to the cheaper ($29) plan without my authorization or communication.
I looked mine over carefully. It is true that the plan name was changed and the new 'plan name' is a higher cost policy and the 'sneaky' part is there is absolutely no mention in the sent material that a lower cost policy is available.
The lowest priced policy is, BTW, lower than the current name-changed one that is being replaced.
You can see ads for that on TV or find it on the website, but not in the material.
There are some changes in the formulary but, according the website, one of my husbands would no longer be covered under the new , higher priced "auto-switched" plan.
I researched quite a bit before responding to this thread and will do more to make sure what is what before selecting a plan, including a phone call to CS during business hours, but at this point WM isn't looking too good in the communication department.
Always check the plans yearly as even what drugs they cover can change. That is why it wise to always use the governemtn site to list drugs and if its covered and cost.
I'm wondering if the new $12.60 per month Humana Walmart Prescription Drug Plan is deficient in any significant ways?
Anyone know?
What you should do is go to medicare.gov and search for the plans in your area and input the drugs you currently take. For me the Humana Walmart comes out significantly than the Preferred Plan and for anything else as well--but I am just taking a few generics.
yep;just like checking when it first came out. I did it for mother in law and it worked very well several times.
