It's a small company. Our premiums haven't gone up in 3 years and wouldn't have gone up this year if not for the changes and fees required by Obamacare. The company has been able to absorb any of the small increases in the past but because of changes and fees this year, they were unable to do so and had to pass the cost beyond what they felt comfortable covering on to the employees. Next year will probably be worse. The fee isn't just per employee...it is per covered person, which means dependents too. There was nothing to negotiate. Any coverage that wasn't required by Obamacare was already dropped last year to keep costs down.

Sorry, you aren't making a very good case for yourself. You had 3 years with no premium increases. Hmmm. Sounds more like trying to foist the blame somewhere else.
No premium increases because there have been no huge claims and the company is self insured. But believe what you want. Obamacare is far from a good solution for everyone.

So why is your company getting hit so much harder than every other company on average????
If you haven't seen a premium increase in 3 years and you are now complaining about $70...well, most people would welcome that little change over the past 4 renewals....
You totally missed his point which he clarified later on. The bill was twice as much with insurance then it would be without insurance. That's insane! And it happened to us as well so it was not just a one time anomaly.
Sorry and you are right. They milk insurance because in the end after the hours of billing, the insurance companies usually pay the docs less, and we worked with a couple of Dr.'s who "booked" Medicare patients to the point of nausea. I do like paying cash when possible. So many factors....

No kidding. When I had group insurance, I saw a raise in premiums every single year, usually between $40 and $50 a month, and the benefits always went down.
I am paying only about $50 a month more on an individual plan now than I paid for a group plan through my employer. The coverage is actually comparable, if not slightly better.
My son's plan always went up every year like clockwork. Usually in the neighborhood of 5%, but there were a few times it went up more.
