I turn 65 On June 8, 2017. I want to know when I can sign up for Medicare so that I will be covered from my bithday on. Is that possible or do I have to sign up so insurance starts on July 1 instead?
If you sign up within 6 months of your 65th birthday, your coverage will start the first day of the month you turn 65, or the month before you turn 65 (if your birthday is the first of the month).
From what I understand, if you want your coverage to start June 1st you will have to sign up March, April or May before your birthday. If you sign up during June it will start July 1st. They go by months and not the exact day when you are 65.
