I have to submit some documents for 2018 HRA reimbursements and they need a copy of the "Social Security Cost of Living statement showing the Part B monthly premium deduction and Part B IRMAA (whatever that is?!)".

I've not received such a statement this year. Have any of you? Just want to know if I need them to send it to me again. I have to submit all documentation by Dec. 15th.

Any feedback welcome. This is just my 2nd year receiving Medicare so don't have much experience with it.

2018 isn't here here yet - and there is no way you can get this information for 2018 until January 2019. Perhaps you mean 2017??

You will receive the statement for 2017 in January.

I get this document every year in January along with all the other 1099s filed with the IRS. It promptly goes into my tax preparation file for the preceding year.

You need this document verify SS income when filing your 1040 in order to calculate the taxable portion of SS and for actual Part B deductions if you itemize medical expenses.

You should have received the 2016 form in January 2017 unless this is the first year you've been on SS - in which case you willand will be receiving the form for 2017 in January 2018.

How would I have gotten the Cost Of Living raise info for 2018 in Jan. 2017? I need the info for 2018. I know there was a 2018 COLA increase but need the documentation.

It's not the one I need for taxes, it's the one I need to prove the COLA increase and Medicare deduction for 2018.

SS hasn't sent those out yet, afaik. I don't expect to see this until December. You could try contacting SS.

You can go online and register on the SS website. Then you can find all your latest info and download copies to print out yourself. Or you can have SS send you a copy. I had to do this in order to file my taxes last year and I received a copy in 2 weeks.

Ariadne,

ISTM the OP is asking about Form SSA-4926-SM, "Your New Benefit Amount", not the SSA-1099. Looking at my last few years forms, it appears they are mailed sometime after mid-November.

FWIW, a quick search of SSA's website did not find any info re mailing.

Also appears to not be available at mySocialSecurity.com

Yes, there have been so few COLA statements since I retired, I misunderstood her post and forgot that SS even sent these out. I remember getting one a few years ago - late in the year.

Thank you! Exactly right. I'm not looking for a document to file with my taxes. I'm looking for the one that says how much our SS increase will be for 2018 and what the Medicare cost will be. It has nothing to do with taxes for 2018 or 2017. I thought I made myself clear in my original post.

If have since found out that these documents will be mailed in early December. They will tell us what our SS payment will be for 2018 and what they will be deducting for Medicare.

Of course we already know the answers to those questions, but everything always has to be official and in writing.
