MC just started for my husband. Surgery is next week with 1-2 days inpatient. What would be the most we are responsible for? He has Part A, B and AARP plan G supplement. I read there’s a $1400 approximate deductible. Someone else said no. So confused. Want to be prepared. Thank you
Where are you reading there is a $1,400 deductible? The purpose of a Medigap is to to pay for Medicare copays and deductibles.
If you have Original Medicare and a Medigap Plan G - the only amount you will be responsible for when you incur any MEDICARE APPROVED charges - be it doctor or hospital - will be the $183 Part deductible.
Without a Medigap, you would pay $183 Part B deductible, $1,340 Hospital Deductible, and 20% copays for any Part B charges.
I didn’t realize that the supplemental plan would pick up the hospital coinsurance. I thought it only was for Part B. Thank you for clarifying
