What I don't understand is concern about doctor participation. I have the catalog of participating providers - doctors, by speciality; dentists; hospitals, etc. The catalog is as thick as a the old phone book I had years ago when I lived in Philadelphia.

Thanks all! I'll read up tomorrow. If many doctors/hospitals in Miami don't take the non cost advantage plan, I will look at a paid plan.

Basic question: Is the term Medigap the same as a Medicare Supplement?

There's a primary care doc chain in my area called "Partners in Primary Care" that's directed to seniors and it sounded just right- till I called and found you have to have Medicare Advantage, not traditional Medicare. No, thanks. My FB feed includes lots of ads for seminars they have on choosing the "right" Medicare plan.

My FB feed knows I'm about to turn 65 so I get many ads too. I don't click on them. I also get tons of snail mail each day for insurance. I'm so glad for this forum and the knowledgeable people here!

Medicare Advantage has to offer what Medicare offers, plus to entice you to join,a little more.
I am with Kelsey,it is TX only and it gives us 20 free one way ride to medical appointments, what they do is schedule our ride with LYFT.
Kelsey has its own medical facility and doctors,if you want to go outside the network, you have to ask permission first.
GP visit zero, specialist visit $25,I dont pay any monthly premium, they get paid by Medicare,I must paid for Part B.
OP is young and healthy, she could always change plan after 1 year, what can happen in one year, hit by a truck?
We spent too much time talking and worrying about our health.

Umm... how about a cancer diagnosis? My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 62. She's skinny, fit, a nonsmoker, no risk factors. They tested for over 30 genetic markers. She had none of them. Oh, yeah- she developed an allergic reaction to an antibiotic she got after surgery and it affected her liver so severely they were considering a transplant. The good news is that she seems to be OK- insisted on a double mastectomy- although she has to be VERY careful about alcohol consumption.

And, no you can't "always" change your plan. As noted earlier, if you have Medicare Advantage and want to change to traditional Medicare after the first 3 months the Medigap insurers don't have to accept you.
