I wish insurance companies gave discounts for working out.
In any case, my mom pays less than $200 a month for coverage for just the two of us. That also includes dental.
It will be going up next year but I'm sure it won't be over $300 a month.
I couldn't imagine paying $1,000 a month for health insurance.
::sigh:: If only we had single-payer..........

Jan 2010, cost is going from $250/mo for two up to $400/mo for two. I put $1000 in FSA to cover copays and other misc health expenditures.

One of the perks of being in the military. It was free while hubby was active duty. Now we pay $180/month for the family for Tricare Reserve Select. No complaints here!

I pay $32 a month for a full coverage HMO through Blue Cross.
2 years ago I was paying $960 a month for COBRA, a private plan would laugh me out the door because of my pre existing condition.

Holy cow, I can't believe how little most people pay!! Ours goes up every year, and just went up to $960.00 a month. We have a $3000 deductible before anything is covered. We have no dental insurance, either. My husband is self-employed, and we have to buy our own health insurance. If you have a pre-existing condition it isn't covered at all, ever. It's ridiculous how expensive it is. We're in our 40's with three children. It doesn't matter how many kids we have though, whether it's 1 or 5 they charge the same amount for children's coverage. That's a pity, because two of our kids will be out of college soon, and I wish our insurance would reflect that.

Many of the posters are posting the amount they pay and are not mentioning the amount their employer pays in addition.
Yes, being self employed means there is just you picking up the tab.
