Thumbs up sleeping pills anxiety

I am back on Xanax almost 2 years now. Usually, I just take them for sleep. Yes, Paxil is hard to get off of--I took Prozac at the same time to wean off of them. I've been on SSRI's since 1997. In 1999, I weaned off of them for 6 months. Then Christmas was coming near and all I did was cry. The cloud and weight on my shoulders was back full force.
I'm on Zoloft now. It works, but I've gained a bunch of weight.
Some people don't understand what it's like to be truly clinically depressed. They seem to think a person can just "snap out of it".
Also, I went off Xanax for a few months and took Ambien and Lunesta. Lunesta is rotten crap and Ambien only helped me fall to sleep for a short time. Only Xanax works for me.
Best of luck, it sounds like you've got it down pat. Joni

I hope you feel better soon.
I run from SSRI drugs like they are the plague
Xanax was made for anxiety--works for me and doesn't make me the least drowsy.
Ambien and Lunesta---I may as well take an aspirin---does nothing.

Give the xanax time to do it's job.

Good luck

"I run from SSRI drugs like they are the plague"

jonigee, I have found in my life anyway, that A LOT of people don't understand what is it like. And most of them don't WANT to know. It seems once I say "Depression" everything else I have said or say goes out the window. It's very sad.

I have heard and read so many people saying to run from the SSRI drugs. I have looked this up but I don't really understand it. Can anyone explain to me in simple terms what the SSRI drugs do, why they are so bad? I do believe that I have been on some but I am not sure, since I don't really know what they are.
Thank You

I'll post a few links; just know that I saw first hand,up close and personal what Paxil does to someone. It's ugly. The doctors won't & don't warn a patient beforehand about the consequences of the drug and about the withdrawal and long term issues after stopping the SSRI. Lots of Class Action suits in place now.

I haven't had that much trouble lately and I thought well, what am I doing differently? I did go on a European vacation in August which I hadn't done in a long time (had a lot of trepidation about going but loved it once I was there)..

Then I remembered hearing something about Omega III fish oil and anxiety - I have been taking it fairly regularly since New Year's... this stuff must work. Or maybe it was the vacation. Whatever, the fish oil is cheaper!

I get anxiety attacks only after a day or two of binge drinking. I enjoy getting hammered on the weekends but I noticed that when I don't drink, I don't get panic attacks. At least mine are pretty easy to fix.

When I try to withdrawl from Paxil I get parathesia, the electric shock in the back of my head and neck, no matter how small the dosage or how long I try to withdraw.

are you continuing to try to wean yourself?
My husband experienced the bran zaps for 6 months pretty regularly and now, after 5+ years later he gets them on occasion.

Are you replacing another drug for the Paxil tas?
