I'm worried about the weight gain.

Most insurance companies with pay for Wellbutrin which is very similar to Zoloft and can help keep the weight off as well as less sexual side effects. Just a thought.

Yeeees....I just talked to her. She will be able to put me back on Zoloft. It will be a generic brand, but thats ok. Now I hope that I won't gain weight because of that . I made some research online and I hear that a lot of people fight with weight gain. I mentioned my weight gain to her and she said that it's can't be because of the Celexa and after such a short time.

Your weight gain probably wasn't from Celexa itself but from the way you were feeling during the time you were taking it.
I too take Zoloft (5 yrs) and had to switch to generic about a year ago. I didn't notice any difference when I switched. I have tried to go off of it but last time I did that I ended up with 3 more dogs.

Celexa doesnt work for me- its dangerous to change meds. Not that insurance companies care, until they get sued.

I have the same fear and my husband thinks I'm nuts. I've had it for several years but I can NOT eat anything without having something to drink within reach. If we go out for Mexican for example, they usually bring the chips and salsa before our drinks. I can not eat...at all. My Grandma had alot of throat problems and they never did find out what was wrong. She had a scope done and everything. She would choke on anything, it was awful. A friend of mine at work is now going through the same thing and he gets his results back on Monday.
I dont have it all the time but I do most of the time. Usually I wont even take gum from people if I dont have a drink. I am sure its all mental and probably stress related but its one fear I just cant seem to overcome.

ARG!! Skittle, Why do Dr.s say that sort of thing when it's even in the literature you get with the meds...weight gain is almost always a problem with many of the A/D's. And yes, it can happen that fast for some. I took Celexa and several other a/ds trying to find what would work for me. Effexor was the worst. Just trying to get off of it was the worst w/d's a person could go through IMPO. Horrible. My sister takes Zoloft generic and it works fine for her. I haven't noticed weight gain to much on her. I now take Wellbutrin and it's in a class of it's own. It can actually help some to lose weight and give a person a bit of energy to boot. But remember---what works for one might not work for another. Good luck and hope this will be just what you need. Life is to short to live it unhappy.

I should add that "Keeper" could also be right...depression can make a person eat more and that could have also been a problem with the weight gain. I didn't notice much weight gain on the Celexa but I didn't take it for more then a couple of months as it just did not work for me. Now Effexor did put on the weight and fast. Just depends on the individual and the a/d. And just to add to the mix...while trying to find the right a/d for me I ended up with 7 cats!! Who says animals can't bring comfort!!

Actually with major depression I have zero weight gain- Prozac also makes you eat less.
And my dogs have saved me through my Dad dying, major recurrent depression and the death of my favorite dog on the weekend of my birthday- Many drs can and do support pet therapy!.
