I had an accident in 1997 where a rusty object went into my left bicept and it became infected. I went to a doctor and he performed surgery on me where he cut open my arm and cleaned out the infection and kept a rubber thing hanging out of my arm after he stiched it up. The rubber thing was there so that the infection could drip out for a couple weeks. The doctor said he cleaned around the bone really well. Could I have problems with this in the future?

The drain is unlikely to cause problems later on. As for the infection, if you haven't had problems yet, you are unlikely to have any now.
