I am scheduled to have this test (Electronystagmogram for vertigo) next week for my vertigo. I already have the idea that it is NOT going to be a fun test and was wondering if anyone here has had it. They warned me that it will probably make me sick so I am not to eat or drink anything before the test. My questions is if you had it, did it make you sick and how long did that sickness last?

I am extreemly prone to motion sickness and once I get it bad, it takes me days to get over it so does this test mimic (in any way), motion sickness.

I just need to know how to plan things after the test due to the after effects of having it done.

the vast majority of people are completely fine immediately after an ENG. the test is simple, relatively quick, and should not leave you feeling unwell.

if you are able to move your head & eyes up and down, side to side, and close your eyes, then thats more or less all there is to it. they may do a caloric test, which involves putting warm or cold water or air into your ear, which is probably the worst part, but even that is really very tame, and shouldn't cause you any major issues.

good luck.

She warned me they will be doing the air in the ears and that it does make some people very sick.. Since I usually get the worst reactions to things, I am looking for the worst case.....She said the test should last a hour or more.. then I remember I am suppose to see the doctor with in the hour of having it done and wonder will it really make me THAT sick if I have to see him.. I have asked my daughter to go in with me when I see him just in case I am to sick to care what he's saying...
