Hey folks.

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with my knee problem. I already have a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and this. My knees are completely swollen, which is normal during a flare-up, but my kneecaps are pointing in the wrong direction, and that's something I never noticed before. Not to mention it's excruciating and I can barely walk or stand longer than a minute. Both of my kneecaps are pointing to the left. Since that seems kind of weird I tried to see if there is some position I'm sitting in that is causing them to drift left but I have done nothing but sit straight and proper for the past 2 weeks and they're still pointing a bit to the left.

I did some research and most of what I came up with for treatment is physical therapy. The thing is I really don't have any money to go to doctors, let alone regularly go to physical therapy. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can correct this alignment issue, preferably in a non-painful way? I need to be able to walk more because I'm looking for a job and I already have enough restrictions on what I can and can't do as is.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

Sorry, but without medical intervention there is little that can be done at this time.

One of my friends has this issue (only in one knee, thank goodness!) and she is using two approaches - one, physical therapy, and two, a knee brace that properly positions the patella. Maybe you could get some relief from bracing?

Thanks for the suggestion Emerald. I'm going to look into knee braces.

I thought about you today; I was in Walgreen's, trying to pick up a couple of prescriptions and passed by the braces. They're not horribly expensive, even there - about $20 each.

One of my friends had a similar problem. Both of her knee caps sat on the inner portion of her joint vs. in the middle. Her doctors said that she had patellafemoral issues. She didn't have a lot of money but was able to contact a companyModerator cut: no ads
