Heart attacks and drinking warm water
The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals...not cold water...maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!!For those who like to drink cold water, The cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed
It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

Thank you for this!
I'm going to translate this and show it to my aunt, and then maybe she won't argue with me so much about my tea-drinking
(For the record: I almost only drink tea, and I have no desire to change!)

Unless you gulp your food, it will be warmed up as you chew it or as it goes down your throat. By the time it reaches your stomach it will have little, is any effect on what's being churned around by the digestive action.
Besides, the entire South would collapse without the daily Iced Tea at meal time. And southerners live a long, long time.

LOL, that is so true!
Dragonten: I went to Hong Kong for my honeymoon and everywhere we went I could never get ice water. They always looked at me funny and brought hot tea for the meal! We started getting used to it though. Unfortunately, when we got back to the States, we went back to our old habits. However, when I eat out with my Mom to a Chinese restaurant or dimsum, I've noticed I drink hot tea more so now then before. I love crysanthamum. YUM!

Many nations in the Far East do this because their water supply is not always the safest to drink. By drinking hot tea the water in the tea is sterilized and made safe.
Hot beverages, especially tea, is also better for people who have swallowing difficulties. Cold water makes body parts shrink. (remember that Seinfeld episode?) If one has difficulties swallowing the colder beverages cause the esophagus to shrink somewhat making it even more difficult to swallow. While on the other hand, hot beverages relax the esophagus making it easier to swallow food.

I think more Asians drink hot water than iced cold drinks, just go to a Chinese restaurant, the non-asians will order a cold iced drink. But Asians like to order the Boba drink, which is cold.

When I lived in Dallas and Houston, yeah, a ton of boba places. Upstate NY, not so much but it was a treat to have when we went to NYC. I'm in PHX now and I think a found a place near where I live but we haven't visited it yet. I didn't know they were fattening but I guess I'm not surprised. It's been a LONG time since I've had one though.
