I recently read in a few places that when you are stung by a bee to immediately put a copper penny over the area where stung and tape it on and leave it for a few hours. It is suppose to help and take away the pain and swelling. Well, it doesn't work. My husband was stung yesterday and we did the penny thing right away. He kept it taped on until today and it did nothing. I feel bad that we did not do what we usually do as he would be better off by now. We usually make a paste of baking soda and water and coat the site area thickly. Anyone else have any other ideas that help that are things around the house?
We are having a very hot, dry summer and the bees are bad! As I wrote earlier my husband was stung a few weeks ago and we tried the copper penny and nothing else and it didn't work at all.
Today my son was stung right in the lip, ugh! As soon as he came running in I acted. I used this stuff I got from Wal-Mart that helps numb it in a green vial. I then gave him Benedryl and made a paste with the meat tenderizer and water and he laid down and kept that on a 1/2 hr. or so and then used ice. Worked wonderful! You cannot even tell he was stung if you didn't know it. Almost no swelling.
Wow I used the penny method and it immediately took the pain away but not the swelling or the itch
