Was your friend prescribed antibiotics? If not, your friend should be for a lung infection.

I have asthma and got bronchitis which lasted for six months before I could breathe again, but I think a second opinion is in order.

Yes she was prescribed antibiotics but they haven't helped yet, and she isn't getting any better. Her temp is normally around 98.0 degrees and today she's running a 100.

Well, if she can afford the ER, I'd go there. If not, I'd go to urgent care.

I was VERY sick a few years back and had a fever for a week.

I've had severe lung infections and one was so bad I could not stop coughing and had to be prescribed codeine. It was not the productive kind of cough, rather a honking cough. Another option might be prednisone. I've taken that before and it's stopped the inflammation.

At any rate, ER or Urgent Care ASAP. And here is an informative link...

Sounds like flu....if he/she's not better in a day or two, another trip to the doctor is in order. Flu can morph into pneumonia very quickly. A high fever (102+) and all-over aches is a good sign of pneumonia. It can take WEEKS to get over!
