It was my understanding that this routine had to be followed before and after any invasive medical procedure with these people.
I would think the same would apply to getting a tattoo but I am not a doctor.
I also would think given the possible seriousness, one would consult with their heart doctor before doing something like that just to make sure.
I have a bicuspid aortic valve. I have to take antibiotics prior to any dental or surgical procedure, as these valves are at a fairly high risk of infection. I have never had any interest in getting a tattoo, but I suppose individuals with conditions like mine would be well advised to take an antibotic beforehand, depending on what their MD says.

Bottom line: your friend needs to consult with her physician, so she can get advice on the risks involved, and what she might need to do the minimize the risk of infection or other medical problems. After she gets this info, she can make an informed decision, based on the risks and benefits involved.

I have heard of a young women in my town, who died after getting a tat....she was on meds for a heart condition. She lied when filling out the forms, and said she had no medical problems. She should of thought of her family...if not herself.

Only your doctor can answer the question. I would say NO for the risk of infection traveling to your stent.

I would NOT do anything that could cause an infection, if you've never been there, you don't need that route. I went thru a major infection not long ago and boy am I paranoid about any scratch or cuts to the body.

Did you read the thread? There was some good information re known cardiac problems and tattoos and infection risks. You know you have a possible problem. Do you need to take precautions for any dental work? Why wouldn't you check with your doctor instead of an anonymous web forum? Maybe because you just don't want to hear what your MD would tell you? Life is full of choices, hard ones and easy ones. None of us get everything we want. Maybe learn to do safer henna applications instead. The last thing I'd want is to compromise my heart or my entire life just for something as non-essential as a tat!
