I had a sinus infection about a month ago, was give Amox and it went away and I felt better. There was no pain for about a month and a half. Everyone is sick in my office with the regular colds, flus and strep throat. I myself have had an upper respitory infection basically all winter with it coming and going. It recently has been back in full force and I have been spitting up yellow stuff, yellow stuff coming out of my nose and a tiny bit of a sore throat. As I said I did have a sinus infection before and now it seems that it has come back. The pain is a little bit over my left eyebrow. The only odd part is that it is basically in the same exact spot as before Is this normal? As I said I have had a upper respitory cold all winter. This sinus infection does not feel nearly as bad as the first one was. I can feel it when I'm sitting and the pain is sharp once in a while. However, when I cough hard this thing really starts to tremble in my head and causes pain and discomfort. I'm wondering if I should be concerned or if this sounds like another sinus infection, perhaps just a milder one from last time??? I can also feel it when I raise my eyebrows and there is also slight pain when sniffing and squinting. Thanks.

Hmmm... I was thinking if you lived anywhere near Texas that you might be having a problem with Cedar allergy because your "cold" has lasted all winter. I would consider taking a product like Claritin or Zyrtec during the winter because colds typically only last around 10 days. It also sounds to me like you are developing a sinus infection again. Maybe the first one wasn't cleared up completely. Amoxicillin is usually the first choice for upper respiratory issues, but Zithromax would probably work better. There are other choices like Augmentin and Keflex too depending on if you have drug allergies or not. I think you should probably schedule an appointment. I hope you feel better soon!

Hi , I am from NJ and my Allergies started a few days ago ., I take over the counter Med. one in the AM & one in the PM , it starts out with a sore throat ,then ears hurt, and then I get a sinus infection, keeps me up all night with the coughing, I drank some water and had a hard candy and it stopped for 2 hours, if it gets real bad I have to take Augmentum 825.....this happens to me, once a year and sometimes twice a year.........I think that you have to exercise ,and eat the right foods and take vitamins to build your immune system, which I don't !! Well good Luck to everyone

It sounds like the same sinus infection that keeps coming back b/c it never got cured in the first place and sinus infections are famous for evading the antibiotics used to treat them. A lot of people, including me, are swearing by their neti pots to keep sinus infections away, but I get lazy sometimes and don't do it for awhile and then I get a cold that develops into a sinus infection but I don't get antibiotics--I treat it myself with a drop or two of oil of oregano put right into the neti pot water. Yow--it burns like fire going in but it usually only takes one or two sessions and I'm breathing easier and the infection goes away. I buy the good stuff from whole foods--costs at least $20 for a little bottle but my co-pay at the docs is $20 and I've never gone to the doc for this. I also take a good decongestant during this time b/c you don't want to do the neti pot when you're completely stopped up. Then after you get rid of the infection you want to do the normal saline neti at least 1x/week for maintenance.

I have chronic sinus infections. Last year I started doing nasal cleansing which has seemed to cut down on the number of sinus infections. However when I do get a sinus infection it seems to take several doses of antibiotics in order to clear it completely. I also get twice yearly sinus cocktail shot which consist of antibiotic, steroid and antihistamine.

I've always suffered from sinus problems and know your pain well.

Invest in an allergist...I finally went after suffering 4 sinus infections in 5 months. I found out what I'm allergic to and now get shots. The allergists in your area will test you for your areas common allergies.
It was the best thing I ever did.

If you find you have seasonal allergies, Cloraseptic(sp) makes a product called Allergen Blocker. You put a little dab on you fingers then rub it under your nose. I use it when we're out on the bike.

I also take the store brand of Zyrtec. One every night.

Good luck with what you find out!
