For about a year or so now, I've been experiencing from time to time a dense pain in my chest(around the heart area). It just comes suddenly, is pretty painful and then goes away. Sometimes, it happens more often, as in the last week or so, it's been almost everyday, and several times.

I've had chest pain in the past due to acid reflux problems, but that only happened while not on the meds for it. This seems more like what some people would describe as "heart attack" symptoms except, they go away and don't seem to get worse. It is not like a gas pain or air bubble pain. Just a little worried I guess, sometimes I feel pressure/pain in my shoulders too, wondering if it's associated with the chest pains. I'm 31 yrs. old. I have no significant medical history.

Last year, while I was pregnant, they had to give me medication to stop contractions. They told me if I had any heart problems that I couldn't take the med. I said no, took it, myheart did feel racey, and they said that was normal. So, this made me think that I certainly had no problems with my heart. But this keeps happening. Don't really feel like going to the doc? Anyone here know what this is, or has had it happen to them too?

Thanks!

Get to your doctor ASAP!

You could have an aneurysm. That is a bludging on an artery in your heart which can burst. Not trying to scare you as it could be anything but it is a possibility especially if you're having pain between the shoulder blades.

I would def be evaluated. there are a number of things this could be, or it could be something simple, the problem is this. At your age, and being a woman, if you present to the er, you may be overlooked if something is really going on, for the simple fact that you are a woman, and because of your age. I recc a complete work up. It could be anything, but do you want to risk it? I wouldn't.

Absolutely, Lulu. You may be young but it still could be serious. Probably isn't, but don't play around with the chance that it could be. Go to the doctor!

Hmmmm, my wife is like this. Complains of symptoms and asks me what it is cause she doesn't like doctors.......... I can only tell you the same thing I tell her. I am qualified to resolve your software issues. Hardware issues must be referred to the help desk.

Seriously, why ask a gardener to wire your house or to represent you in court? Go to a doctor and have someone educated and trained in this area to give you a diagnosis. You may not like doctors or hate the inconvenience, but think which you would prefer....the doctor and inconvenience or knowing your husband and children have to claim your body and make funeral arrangement because it was annoying to you to visit a doctor and find out what was wrong.

Hopefully it is still a bad case of indigestion and nothing worse. Vegas is there because gamblers like the long shots. But even if you win that bet, wouldn't it be better to find out and take that once a day pill to keep the indigestion away?

Regardless - get yourself to a doctor/healthcare provider asap. It is probably nothing - but it is better safe than to be sorry. When your body sends you a little warning, have it checked out.

I'll just add my humble $0.02 to this. YES see a health professional immediately. Please do not wait. As others have stated, it may be indigestion or any number of other things. But, women do experience 'heart problems' somewhat differently than men do. Good Luck to you and keep us posted
