HAMILTON, ON (March 23, 2011) - A lot of chatter goes on inside each one of us and not all of it happens between our ears.

Researchers at McMaster University discovered that the "cross-talk" between bacteria in our gut and our brain plays an important role in the development of psychiatric illness, intestinal diseases and probably other health problems as well including obesity.

Once again i think that we are starting to realise that all these ''antibacteria'' products probably isn't a good thing as our genome and immune system has evolved some 1.8 milion years just fine keeping us humans alive before the advent of antibiotics etc. Hell we are covered from birth till death with quadrillions of staph all over our body and orifices and so unless a genetic aberration our immune cells defend us fairly well

Anyway just my 1.8 million year old palo genome thoughts here

And a major reason people get diseases is not because they have a drug deficiency but the immune system has been compromised by a poor diet, stress and toxins. Still, it's probably a good idea to avoid bugs like Ebola.

I've begun to think of our gut bacteria as another organ. I think anatomy books should begin to reflect that.
