Hi

I am hoping someone would know what this weird pain is from. I try searching Google, WebMD, etc., and I get scared that I have a tumor, abscess, dislocated disc, or severed blood vessels and then think I'm going to die (a bit of a hypochondriac...)

I have to sleep almost sitting up because I have Benign Positional vertigo - if I end up flat everything goes haywire and i've had it all my life. So I'm used to my neck being bent a little - that allows me to lay down but still be elevated enough to not get an attack of BPPV. I never have had neck pain unless I ended up flat.

Yesterday and this morning I've been noticing pain when I roll over on my right side, and it's in the mid to back area of my neck. Pretty sure it's a muscle, but I'm so scared that I have some rare disease. Basically all day i don't notice it, until I try to say, look up at the ceiling but slightly tilting my head to the left. It hurts! It also hurts when I swallow, but it's not the "sore throat" sore, it's like a muscle is ripped. Maybe one of my glands is about to explode...

I'm due to get an MRI soon because of a cyst I have at the base of my skull on the OTHER side of my head (I'm a cysty person heh), so now I'm wondering and thinking they'll find some growth all down my neck.

Would it be just a pulled muscle if it only really hurts at times when swallowing and bending my head to look up at something? It almost feels like a really audible but dull "click" in my throat when it hurts, like the muscles in my throat are trying to "swallow' around a growth!

Sorry for the LOOONG post - I'm afraid.

Thanks for advice!!

Beatle

Sounds like you have a sprained ankle on your neck.

Why don't you go to a doctor?

It sure does sound like that, doesn't it
I have a doctor appointment on May 4 for bloodwork, but I asked them to check me out then too (it was the soonest they had open). Bummer...

That's the way it is with doctors.
