So, for the past several (5?) years, I've had this skin irritation. When I take hot showers or when I'm sweating, I get these red, itchy bumps over my chest. Until recently, I only got a few after I showered (like, maybe 5 or so). Now, it's flared up onto both of my shoulders, my chest, and stomach. They do go away after about 30 minutes.

My doctor said I had heat rash and recommended I take an allergy medication, and it's helped relieve the symptoms. But I don't want to rely on allergy medicine every time I want to play sports. I haven't seen my doctor in a while, so I'm wondering is there a permanent cure for this? I read that heat rash is caused by a mild fungal infection. That sounds like it's treatable, right?
