I doubt that a safety pin could have penetrated her heart or caused any other major damage...

Unless it was a humongeous safety pin, it MAYBE pricked a muscle. Unless it was dirty, no lasting problem. She must be in the hospital for something else.

Even if the safety pin punctured a lung or pricked the heart (very slim unless it was a HUGE safety pin), the body is resilient enough to heal itself quickly. I wouldn't worry about it.

But I always wondered how on TV shows, when people put on pins, they just slam it right on their chests like nothing without hurting themselves.
