If you have those kinds of issues (explosive diarrhea? or situations where you need to "concentrate" ) then you may want to improve your diet and work on the health of your colon.

Anything (even a paint can) that you can put your feet up on while on the toilet is helpful.
You just want to get your knees up so that your thighs are higher than parallel to the ground (if that makes sense) and the higher (as long as you're comfortable) the better.
Is that clear enough?
For some reason i can't think of a better and more succinct way to explain it ... i need some brain food i guess.
I understand you perfectly.

Yes. Elimination is such an unimportant and uneccessary part of life.

Why do you think that? How do you judge whether "Health and Wellness" issues are too disgusting to talk about on a Health and Wellness forum?

Yes.
Everybody poops .... from kings to paupers.
And a healthy colon and good elimination is one of the most important keys to good health.
It's good to talk about it.
There is so much shame (conscious or not) about the body and it's functions ... especially the function of elimination.
It's really important, if one wants to be happy, free and well, to love and make peace with the body and all of the challenges that we face as incarnate beings including the ultimate challenge which is death.

As a Peace corps volunteer in west Africa, I used a pit latrine (where squatting was vital.) I absolutely agree with you: squatting is better for elimination.

I was a little freaked out when I found out that we were moving to Japan and everyone kept telling me "that's all they have over there!" (it's not btw, but you do encounter them in many public facilities).

I did read (where? ) that hemmroids aren't very common in many countries because of squat toilets (and a healthier diet with less processed foods, more fiber)
