Meat (edited to clarify: the only REAL meat in a proper Ashkenazi Jewish woman's home: brisket). And the kasha gets served with varnishkes.

Meat knish?

Skirt steak, not brisket. (My mother had the butcher grind skirt steak for chopped meat.)

One Blessing I have found is most Kosher food is Halal for us Muslims. I think one factor that is critical, is in our concepts of Kosher and Halal meats. There is something more healthy about them that the factory produced mistreated animal products found neatly packaged in most USA super markets, do not have.

Kosher and Halal are food, not tortured fillers for stomachs.
