Dallas, TX (AHN) - While chewing a gum can relieve you of stress, an American study has found that overdoing it can actually be harmful for the gums. Researchers at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas say over chewing of gum can also strain your jaw making you feel tired and sore.
According to new research, chewing the gum releases pent-up energy but if one does it vigorously; it can lead to problem in temporo mandibular joint or a condition called TMJ. The condition can cause pain in the head and the neck, and difficulty in opening and closing the jaw.

i didn't need the study to tell me that... after an hour with a piece of gum (at the hairdresser's) and not able to throw it away, my jaws were aching!!!
