No. Time, viability, condition of amputated part, etc.
The point is that all things being equal, they often won't do it if they think you're just going to kill it off with cigs.

There you go. There are many reasons which could be listed, yet this thread is about smoking and smoking alone. The original title was inflammatory and unduly provoking. It's just one more demonstration that it's socially acceptable to revile smoking and smokers, in spite of the fact that other things may cause similar problems. Smoking is the issue du jour and smokers everyone's favorite whipping boy.

I'm not dumb enough to argue medicine with a doctor, but I will stand four-square against prejudicial threads and the posting of half or incomplete truths about smokers.

This smoker has had enough.

i'm having a seriously hard time believing this.

the liability to the facility would be enormous.

"uh sir? we have your arm here. we're prepared to reattach it.
btw, do you smoke?"

"uh, yeah."

"oh, too bad, so sad. we won't be doing the surgery because
there's a potential that it will fall off after the procedure."

the lawyers would have a field day with this.

Your believing it or not is irrelevant.
The same is true of many vascular procedures.
Revascularize vs amputation.
Smoking history will play a big part in which way they choose to go.

a bunch of hooey.

post a link, study or anything other than your opinion that
substantitates an incident where a severed part was not reattached due to the patient's habit.
