I have lived in the USA for quite some time and I have never been asked to provide my blood type. Why take my word for it when they can just take a quick test or use type O?

I have not heard about this, but if that is the case, then this will make even more sense:

O+, also universal donor. I have been getting calls about 3x per day to donate to the local blood community people here in VA. I JUST donated blood last month and explained to them that I cannot donate blood so close to one another. The last lady I spoke with said "Think of the lives you will save." I said "I donated blood 4 1/2 weeks ago, that is not enough time for my blood and other counts to come back to normal" (usually its 8 weeks or so) she said "well, but please think of the lives. We will call you next week."

I can still see the hole in my arm where the needle went. I mean I like to help people but I'd probably faint if they took more from me

0- is the universal donor which can donate to all rh positives and negatives.

Except people with the rare Bombay Blood Group called HH.
They have around 10,000 cases of HH+ and only 4 of HH-.

They are falsely treated as 0 negatives, but cannot receive 0 negative blood, yet they can donate to anyone. They are missing the D Antigen.

Is the Bombay Blood Group the real universal donor?

O+. I know the type because I've given blood several times.

Don't know much about the rh thing but not terribly interested/concerned, either, since I will never have pregnancies/children.

apparently A+ is the best for plasma donation?

i found out i was A in HS (biology experiment), but didn't find out the + until I got pregnant.

AB+ is the best for plasma as they are the universal receiver.
