Lightbulb Ambien Amnesia

Anyone here have any experiences (including the side effects like "amnesia") with taking Ambien or others who have? What milligram were you/they taking... how often, etc. Tell as much as you are willing to share.

I'll share what I know later...

I take it every night, a small amount, about 3miligrams and I have never had amnesia or any side effects from it.

Default Ambien amnesia

It is documented that about 1% of ambien users experience some sort of amnesia. Unfortunately, I am one of them. I take a high dose of 20mg a night. I cannot sleep without it. I do not recall any events after it has taken effect which occurs within about 20 minutes of taking it. I have done everything from taking my kids for walks to going car shopping without any memory of actually doing it. It's scary. If this happens to you, I would suggest not taking it unless there is someone who can stay with you and make sure you do not do anything dangerous.

I can't figure out how you split the pills to get only 3 mg? They are sold in 5, 10, & I think the extended release is 12 (or so) mg!

I actually believe the major side effects come more with the higher dosage - I experience far less side effects when taking 5 mg... The 10mg dose is WHEW - something else to my system!

I'm happy you are able to take it with no side effects.

Thanks for sharing your experience!!!

I have a 10 mg. tablet, and I just cut it with a knife or fingers, and then I break it into 4ths. I try to not take ambien very often because it can be addictive. At this low dosage I don't have any side effects.

I am trying to get back into juicing with carrots and celery because when I have a glass of fresh juice I sleep very well without any aids. It isn't easy making yourself juice on a daily basis due to having to clean the juicer, but it certainly beats taking drugs.

Okay, smartie pants, I use a pill cutter too! But, to get precisely 3mg when the pills offered are 5 or 10mg is where the "wonder" about how to get "3" comes from... I take the generic now & they do NOT easily split from 10 to 5 - I'd NEVER get them smaller without destroying them...

I just started with the generic and I don't like it as much as I did the "real" thing. I feel kinda hung over in the morning, need to take more of it on my sleepless nights, and my memory is getting worse...........but that could be my age, or not.

instead of all these dangerous sleeping pills take xanax. It clears your mind, you sleep, and no side effects. been using them for years. It's all the thinking that keeps you awake and this stops that. Ambien has been talked about for sometime now, it's crazy to take something like that.
