On my face, just around my mouth and rarely on the cheeks right near the nose, I can see occassionally dark spots under the skin. At first I though blackheads, so naturally popped them. However, I have had blackheads before and these arent the same.

When the skin breaks, its more of a hair that emerges just a couple of millimetres long, dark brown in colour. It however crumbled when took it off my face so I cant really see what it is, and lead me to think it wasnt a hair.

My next thought after this was perhaps it could be a root of some sort. I know I may seem to be thinking the worst but dont want to rule out anything that I can't confirm as not the right thing, but I know of roots from cancers.

Also if I squeeze more to make sure its all out, blood comes out so naturally I stop here. This makes me wonder if its some kind of under the skin clot?

They keep reappearing on my face, and I am just wondering if anyone else has had something similar and if so what they are!

It sounds like a dense hematoma (broken blood vessel with coagulated blood stuck in that spot). Harmless but annoying and unsightly, if that's what it is. Best bet is to have a dermatologist check it out just to be sure.

Probably ingrown hair. Try using an exfoliating scrub on your face, and quit squeezing bumps, you'll get scars.

I've heard that all my life and can't leave anything alone and I'm not all scarred up. Also, I didn't ruin my eyes by reading in the dark till I hit 40.

Im not sure its an ingrown hair, Ive had that before and it doesnt appear to be the same. Im definately going to my doctor about it, best to be safe.

And yeah I struggle to leave things alone too, even though I know it might scar :s
