I know they only relieve symptoms and not cure anything, but do you still feel better when going thru the cold with them? Are they harmful at all if taken as directed? Any other drawbacks with them? I was also thinking maybe its not right to interfere with the body and undermine/counteract the immune response by removing symptoms?

I take nyquill when I have a severe cold or flu. It helps me breath and sleep at night. That's the only cold medicine I take besides an occasional spray of afrin in my nose and a tylenol.
