If you want to try sleeping on your back, put a pillow under your knees...that helps keep you back aligned properly, and it will also make it harder to turn!

I personally don't think staying in 1 position for 7-9 hours is a good thing....but whatever works!
Good point about the pillow under the knees. Without it your spine is flexed too much.

Completely agree with the last.

Great sleeping suggestion tho. I Had to bc of two rotator cuff tears.

I'm so sorry to hear about your spine. That must have been painful.

I'm glad you found something that works for you. It sounds fabulous! Hopefully it will do wonders for my joints, too! Thanks for the information!

That's not so .... not if the mattress is good and firm and flat (no hammock).

For people with lumbar issues, they suggest the pillow under the knees. My mattress is firm and pretty new, and I can't sleep on my back without the pillow. To be honest, the fact that I have a generously sized behind (and that was the case even when I was slightly underweight) probably doesn't help!

I used to start out lying on my back until I was well rested and relaxed and ready to go to sleep, then turned on my side.

Since I started sleeping on the floor without a mattress (two years ago), though, it is uncomfortable to lie on my back, so I start right out on my side.
