Self Advocacy is a part of medical care that some Doctors seem to forget about. I have "Doctor Shopped" to find one that listens and works with me. Not just spout out orders to follow. I now have a Primary that I like and we work well together to fix me. I have a Spinal Doc for visits that is sort of Holier than thou (In my opinion) but I stay there because the other Spinal Doc that actually does the procedures is great. My health now (mental and physical) is much better than is was when I saw Docs that just tell you what to do without at least listening or really asking you about whats wrong.

Just my 2 cents and I don't need change from that.

I absolutely despise doctors and will do nearly anything to avoid them. Why? Because of the way I have been treated -- everything from purposely withholding information from me to deliberately LYING to me and my reading the LIE on my chart!! I will not go to a doctor until I have no choice, and I do my best to treat myself. I go when that doesn't work.

But I go to dentists, opthalmologists, and optitians.

Dentists and opthamologists are, by requirement, doctors in the USA. Opticians are basically pharmacists for the eyes. Their job is to simply dispense the prescriptive eye corrections that are provided to them by actual doctors. Opticians don't even need to be licensed, as pharmacists do.

Wow! "No further need of testimony Your Honor, you have just heard that doctors are no longer healers but businessmen!" Lol! This is ironically hilarious, people, but in reality it's sad to see that the Hippocratic oath is now a myth, a bitter-sweet memory of days gone by!

Over 10 years ago when egotistic and selfish doctors gave me a hard time when I found out I had a thyroid problem I was too naive to do what I would do now, I'd tell them flat out what I think and tell them that I'm going to report them to the AMA, then I'd go to tell everyone in my community to stay away from them, its' SO easy today thanks to the internet. So Jay, write your letter with copy to the AMA!
