I've had a ganglion cyst on the top of my foot for about six months, and now I'm getting one on my wrist. The one on my foot doesn't hurt, but the one on my wrist is not comfortable.

I've been reading that even with surgery or having the cyst drained, it often comes back. I'm hoping someone knows of a home remedy or supplement to take to try to get rid of these things, or something to eliminate from the diet to shrink the cysts...something other than smashing it with a Bible, that is

I had a large ganglion cyst removed from the top of my shoulder last year. It hasnt come back. I think a lot of the success depends on the surgeon's expertise and his ability to ensure that he gets all of it out.

There is no home remedy or supplement to get rid of ganglions.

Aspiration is usually a temporary fix as the cyst still remains only the fluid has been removed. Surgery is the best option, not guaranteed, but the likelihood of recurrence after surgery is very low.

I had one removed from my wrist. It had reached a size where it pressed on the nerves leading to may hand. That was a painful thing!!

Removing it surgically removes ALL of it. Just draining, (or shrinking it somehow) would still leave it body of the cyst with the possibility of it refilling with fluid again.

I have one on my finger which I'll need to see a plastic surgeon about b/c it came so close to the surface that it actually popped like a pimple and now every few days it fills up again--apparently it needs to drain joint fluid back into my hand but that route is closed and now it can only drain outwards.

What's really creepy to me is to think that in the old days before antibiotics and modern medicine this would probably be my death sentence or I'd lose an arm, due to risk of infection. My mother used to get them at one point in her life but they stopped forming and I think most people who get them would say the same thing.
