An informative video that aired last month on the dangers of added sugars which are invading our diet...

Is sugar toxic ? - 60 Minutes - YouTube

The recommendation is that no more than 25g of added sugar should be consumed per day with an absolute maximum intake of 40g. This INCLUDES all added sugar in ALL foods (read the labels for sugar content).

Wouldn't doubt it, people never used to be this fat and diabetic until we started seeing so much HFCS laced into everything we eat.

Basically the message is, try not to eat food that comes from a package.

Like Jack LaLanne said, "If it's man made, don't eat it."

Thanks for the video. I've always liked the low carb lifestyle and found that I was much healthier when I followed it.

Added to the list should be these delightful additives:

MSG (great at helping to grow cancer cells)
Preservatives
Food Dyes/Coloring
Hydrogenated Oils
Sugar Substitutes (some have been linked to lupus and cancer)
Pesticides

Basically, one should adopt this motto to be 100% safe: "Grow Your Own!"

^^^Of course, you never know what is lurking in your air, water, and soil!

If you follow all of these steps, then you can never be sure that anything you're eating is safe. That's ridiculous. People shouldn't be slovenly and eat anything and everything, but I don't think that sugar, food dyes, MSG, or other ingredients in food will kill you if used responsibly. I don't let the fear of a certain food ingredient keep me from enjoying a meal.

Agreed. Even the 60 Minutes piece acknowledges that a certain amount of sugar is not harmful. Take things in moderation, and you'll probably be fine.

Nothing wrong with sugar, but I do think the artificial sweeteners are bad for you. Even too much water at one time can kill you....everything in moderation is the key!
