I searched but couldn't find this addressed: Mon. (around 2-3 a.m.) I had gotten up to use the restroom - when walking back to bed, I felt itching beside my ankle bone - it looked like and I assumed it was a mosquito bite (put anti-itch cream on it) - anyway, as the week progressed, it got to be about the size of a quarter and still really itchy (plus the warm shower water made it irritated), I continued w/the anti-itch stuff. Now, it's about pea size but dark purple (and still really itchy) - any thoughts? Spider maybe?

You could google up images of spider bites if you're just curious or you could go see a doc if you think it might be serious. But yeah, I suppose it could be a spider bite. I think brown recluse bites start to rot from within during the first 24 hours after though and they get very painful, but not not everyone reacts badly to them.

sounds like a brown recluse bite. Should see a doctor. Hope the wicked spider is dead. Update us and hope you get better soon.

they do show the MOST horrible results of a bite but from personal experience I can tell you some bites are not that extreme. I was bit by one and so was my dad.

Hmmm, maybe? (I didn't think the brown recluse was in my area but I guess anything's possible). I'll keep my eye in it for a few days and if no change, get it checked (it's not as itchy but dark purple, a little larger than a pea in diameter and hard)
