Is it possible to go right to Lasik if you have never worn glasses or contacts? Let's say someone has put off going to the eye doctor, but strongly suspects they need glasses. If it is confirmed that they do indeed need glasses, could they just get Lasik right away?

I don't know the answer to that but I do know that if you are close to needing cataract surgery, you should do that instead. They remove your cloudy lens and implant a corrective lens so you don't need glasses. Probably cheaper than Lasik and insurance pays for it.

The eye doctor is the one to make that call....if you've got enough eye tissue, not having worn glasses shouldn't prevent you from getting lasik.

Go to the doc. Consultations for lasik are usually free.

I was told your vision has to be stable for a year or so before you are a candidate. Makes good sense to me because who wants to keep on paying for revisions. If my sight was changing, I would also want to be sure there wasn't something wrong.

I would get a consultation. I had lasik surgery in 1999 after wearing contacts and having vision of 20-200. It was without a doubt, the most frightening thing I ever did but well worth it. My vision is still 20-20 although I do need reading glasses. Best thing I've ever done. I imagine the procedures are much better now than 13 years ago!

If you have to have this done then consider ICL or something similar instead. At least that's reversible. Lasik is a gamble.

That si the first things they will do is check your eye. Of course you can if needed. Wife and I had it done in 2000 and one opf the simplist and best things we have had done.
