Flu Shots - Yay or Nay?
Finally, I have thought of a thread topic.
It's that time of year again and I am seeing the advertisements in the newspaper for flu shot clinics.
Every year I get a flu shot, faithfully. People in my workplace and in various blogs I read are vigorously opposed to them.
What's your thought on them? Will you get one or not? And if you won't get one, what's your reasoning?

NAY. The flu shot only addresses one strain of flu and there are dozens of possible strains. Besides, there are so many immune system fortifiers in good health food stores, you'd be better off taking one of them and strengthening your immune system rather than weakening it with the side effects of the shot -- especially since it isn't likely to prevent the flu that might be going around anyway. I have never taken a flu shot and never will.

Haven't had one in my adult years. Can't remember if I had them when I was a kid. I've never had the flu. I categorize the flu as a cold with a body aches, chills, fever and perhaps vomitting. I'm constantly washing my hands and I avoid touching doorknobs and handles while out in public.

Have never had a flu shot and have never had the flu! I have a really good immune system and the only thing I really get that kicks my butt is a sinus infection usually once a year, sometimes once in 18 months or so if I'm lucky...even then it really doesn't keep me from doing anything I usally do, like go to work. One of the days I have it I might go right to bed when I get home from work and sleep all night long, but then I'll be ok enough to get right back up and go to work the next day although I do have to keep a lot of tissue around my desk, lol. I will not get a flu shot, because I think that more so older people who are more vulnerable to get really sick or people with less than great immune systems at work would benefit more from it than I would.

No flue shots. The only time I've ever had the flue is when I got a flue shot. So I stopped getting them back in 1983.

My mother once had the doctor give me one when I was in my teens (back in the dark ages of the 1960s). I got miserably sick from it within 3 days and have never had a flu shot since.

No flu shots for me or my family. I will take additional vitamins and homeopathics for an immune boost during flu season.
As my son and husband are both on the autism spectrum, we are now a no-vaxing family.
