I suppose this knowledge could prevent some from using CAT scans for non-critical issues, where MRI can be equally utilized.

Yes, MRIs are a great tool as well, but they are much more expensive and some insurance companies will not pay for them if a CT will do the same. Believe me, we are going through this issue almost daily right now.

Being aware of the side effects of one versus the other is helpful, but I am sure most who read these forums are, ultimately going to take the advise of their doctors.
