Anyone have any personal stories to tell? Know someone who took accutane and had bad side effects years later? Acne that came back worse than before? Or, does anyone have only good things to say? Either yourself or someone you know? Thanks

I took Accutane when I was in my early 30s (around 1988). I had persistent acne which Retin A did not help; but I was a bit surprised when the dermatologist suggested Accutane because I had thought it was only for severe acne, which I didn't have. So I took it. I had the usual side effects at the time (dry skin, cracked bleeding lips). It helped my acne for a while, but eventually I started breaking out again. So the dermatologist put me on a low-dose second course of Accutane, which cleared the worst of it up again.

Years later, I have no side effects that I know of. I saw a lawyer's ad on TV about a class action lawsuit for victims of Accutane, citing celiac disease as a possible side effect, which scared me. But I do not have celic disease.

These days, I'm a lot less trusting of the med/pharm business than I used to be and I do not take any prescription meds.

I took Accutane in my early to mid 20's. It never helped my acne one bit, and my hair has thinnned out quite a bit, and never recovered.
