I am 26 year old (male).4 week ago I met with accident and my ACLgot damge. My Dr. Suggests 4 week rest ,after 4 week rest now I am able to walk but unable to bend leg.
My Dr. Suggested me 3-4 week excersize. After 4 week if there is improvement then ACL surgery is require. Is surgery is only cure for ACL.
Can u pls tell me why m not able to bend leg, and how can this cure.Is ACL surgeryis require for this.also tell me the ACL surgery cost .
please suggest what should I do.It will be great help, thanks in advance.I am 26 year old (male).4 week ago I met with accident and my ACLgot damge. My Dr. Suggests 4 week rest ,after 4 week rest now I am able to walk but unable to bend leg.

Hey man i had same problem. it might be your meniscus thats torn also. i literally had to sleep sitting. after a couple weeks it got better. i just had acl surgery and if your 26 you are going to want to do surgery. listen to me now....do pre op pt.
They have to wait for swelling and fluid to go down in order to do surgery. Your MCL will heal on its own, so that's why they wait a lot of times for 4-6 weeks before operating. You'll have to deal with it for a while.
2. your mcl will not heal on it's own as it has very little blood going to it.
Your lack of motion is the result of cartilage damage or the acl blocking motion. Don't force it.
The DR. will wait for the swelling to go down before surgery and a MRI is also in your future.
I messed up my knee also resulting in 3 reconstructive surjuries ( no knee replacement , yet) torn meniscus, acl, pcl & lateral collateral ligament .
They took parts from my other knee, they use part of the patella ligament as a source for ligaments.
Do your pt religiously, it will pay off I can run and jump and climb Mtns.
Yes, it still is a hinder and it does get sore but it works.
It's a long road to recovery but you can do it.

You are confusing the MCL with medial meniscus. MCL will heal on its own and has an adequate blood supply.
Also stiffness has nothing to do with the ACL blocking motion, once the ACL is torn it isn't blocking anything. Stiffness after an ACL tear is due to swelling and immobilization typically although a large flap tear of the meniscus can cause locking.
Your knee is surrounded by superior and inferior geniculate arteries, hence MCL recovery is possible. Surgery is almost never required for a MCL tear alone (depends on grade though). It's basic anatomy.
The ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus are known as the unhappy triad, because many times once the ACL is torn by a lateral blow to the knee, the medial meniscus and MCL are torn as well. Medially, the medial meniscus is fused with the MCL (unlike the LCL w/ the lateral meniscus), thus a lateral blow that usually tears the ACL will tear the MCL along with the medial meniscus. If you 've ever had the privilege of dissecting a real human cadaver you could easily see this.
