I've supported myself and raised my kid with very little child support from her father, I've moved 60 miles from my family and have to take care of myself alone when things go wrong. Nobody comes to rescue me if I have a flat tire or my car breaks down--I'm on my own. Oh yeah, and YEARS of "counseling", as you so kindly put it. It's called psychotherapy. For depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

But I have a terror of doctors poking and prodding at me. Bizarre, as you pointed out above. It did occur to me to go back to a therapist and talk about this, yeah, but in the end, he or she would just make me go to the doctor!

Anyway, thanks, all. I just have to bite the bullet and do it.
Hmm. Someone left me an anonymous "rep" comment about "what was to survive in 1993, no one died" claiming they worked there (WTC). Since I have no way to respond to this, and wondering if people really are that ignorant, I'll just add this. Um, six people DID die, including an eight-month pregnant woman, and more than a thousand people were injured. How someone could claim they worked there and not possibly know this is a bit staggering.

Anyhow, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Some people are idiots...ignore-ignore-ignore.

So how did you make out? Did you ever find a doctor you liked?

The thing about doctors today is that if just one test result (out of many on a complete blood count) is off they'll usually want to go further, such as an ultra sound, mri, etc, etc because of liability issues. Often it's just a "false positive" that means zero.
You have to make the call on doing either everything your doctor tells you or to elect not to go further in testing. You know your body better than the doctor and a gut instinct will usually render what you should do.
