Did I push myself too hard training for half marathon?
I am training to run my first half marathon in a couple months. I have been slowly increasing the miles I run so that now I'm running about 5 miles during the week and more on the weekends. Today for my long run, I ran 9 miles. It really wasn't too hard. However ...
About a half hour after I got home I was walking down the stairs. I heard a distinct pop or snap and the rear of my ankle felt weird -- sort of tight with a mild tenderness. . But I could still walk on it pretty much normally. In fact we took the kids to the water park today and I spent several hours going up and down the stairs to the slides. It continues to feel strange tonight after a long day. Again it doesn't really hurt, so much as feels a little off.
Given the location, it seems like it could be an Achilles issue. But from everything I've heard, if you rupture that, you are pretty much down instantly. Are there other things it could be? Should I plan on running on Monday or do I need to back off?

Definitely back off. I would suggest swimming where you can help your cardio, but not hurt your ankle more. Do weight training, perhaps yoga.
Are you stretching properly? A great stretch for that area is put both hands on the wall with your feet about a foot away from the wall. Step one foot back while leaning on the wall and press your heel into the ground.

Consider partial achilles injury.
Or peroneal tendon injury.
Or stress fracture.
Or sprain.
Those would be in my differential.
