I am wondering if anyone has experience buying eyeglasses from an online store. I realize you need to have an eye exam done locally however it seems as if the pricing from online stores is much better than local stores.

My only concern is the "fitting" of the glasses. Has anyone bought online? Any suggestions or comments?

I only buy glasses online, they are so much cheaper and have never had a problem. The fix is one issue though, the site you buy from should list all the measures though. My first time buying online I bought 3 pairs for around $50, one fit very well and the others so-so and I use them for extras. But now I know what to buy.

I think there is one site that allows you to try on the frames via the mail, not sure how it works though.

Ive been buying online for many years. Optical quality of lenses is excellent, right on the money for the Rx you provide. But frames are kinda crappy and break easily.

fitting is easy, just go to local eye glass shops and try on frames that fit and write down the frame sizes and lens size, etc and you will have a good idea which frame will work when you order from online optical shops

also ask the optical shop to measure your pupil distance, it should also be on your prescription

Thanks for posting - I've been buying from Zenni online for a couple years and have no complaints.

I bought some really nice glasses at Coastal Lenses com last fall. Really reasonable, and very easy to select and size, totally user friendly. Lots of compliments all year on them. paid 119.00 You will need your prescription in hand...the site guides you through all other aspects. Mine fit perfectly. Try it

Before you purchase eyeglasses you should obtain a new prescription and make a copy of the prescription. After you purchase the glassses from any source you should take the prescription and the glasses to a locol optician and ask if the glasses match the prescription correctly. Often mistakes are made even by the best firms.
