on 11/8 My nephrologist put me on a 4th blood pressure medication (Inspra/Eplerenone) because there is too much protein in my urine (my kidney function is still very good). he is seeing me for follow up in mid December.
I was taking a potassium supplement with the lasix(to make me less tired) but he had told me to cut out the potassium so i no longer take it with the lasix. he wanted me off the potassium because my potassium levels were a little elevated recently
since then i notice not only am i feeling better and have adjusted to being off the potassium, but i have lost 11 pounds.
i plan to ask him this when i see him but in the meantime is there any reason for the weight loss or the improved sense of well being? when i first took the inspra it made me feel ill. i have adjusted since then but i notice im not as hungry but im ok with that
Don't see any connection with Potassium and weight loss.
"Potassium is fundamentally involved in a massive amount of body processes, such as fluid balance, protein synthesis, nerve conduction, energy production, muscle contraction, sunthesis of nucleic acids and control of heartbeat. In many of its roles, potassium is opposed by sodium, and the two positive ions are jointly balanced by the negative ion, chloride.
