Anyway i dumped the rest of my Quaker Oatmeal down the drain as i cramped all over (really bad in legs and hands) until about 11.00 P.M. last nite from consuming oats at 4.00 P.M. so i was not a happy camper. I just have to eat Apples and Bananas for my energy foods to workout but they sure can't compare to oats for power at least in me....

Cramping could be due to not enough MAGNESIUM. We are all told by the medical establishment (which is basically clueless about health) that we need more calcium but REALLY what we need is TRACE MINERALS and especially Magnesium. What they also don't seem to understand yet is that to absorb any calcium supplements, you need to take magnesium with it and the magnesium needs to be CHELATED. Or to address all the possible problems, just take trace minerals from TRACE MINERALS RESEARCH. It is in a liquid form and taste terrible but works like magic. MANY people have a trace mineral imbalance and could certainly benefit from highly assimilable trace minerals

Also, I'm told that if your legs cramp, especially at night you need to drink more WATER.

Hey 6'3", you know that bananas are nature's junk foods right? Why not eat berries instead? Also aren't you forgetting SEEDS and NUTS? They are loaded with energy and protein too! Organic Almonds and raw pumpkin seeds, especially for men, are EXTREMELY healthful.

If you want really really REALLY healthful exponentially more so than what is grown above sea level, look into SEA VEGETABLES! For example, take some Wakame and bake it in the oven for a few minutes until it goes from leathery to crispy and brittle-- like a potato chip without the grease. Use it in place of Bacon in a BLT sandwich made with 7 grain bread toasted with mayonaise. Use fresh tomatos - preferably hierloom and fresh Romain lettuce and salt and pepper. You can quickly get used to sea vegetables and ramp up your intake of vitamins and mineral) having sea veggies this way a few times a week.

Healthy Healing probably has some good info on it. Dr Linda Rector Paige, N.D. PhD was probably the first Naturopathic Doctor widely recognized in modern times in this country dating back to the 1970's before natural health started to become popular. She has a remarkable story of her own near death experience where she nursed herself back to robust health using natural madicine. Her books are used as references in probably every health food store in the country for decades. The aforementioned is her website.

Arrow I've been avoiding...

... getting the further testing to determine if I have Celiac's Disease. Pasta, bread, & the like are my very favourite foods. But, at this point I have already been diagnosed with another intestinal disorder that requires me to go to a nutritionist soon to go on a limited diet - gawd help me if I have this too.

I get teased by people who know me - especially my son - for the problems I have. As if they are nothing - but, until you have the pain, agony, discomfort, & sensitivities of these sorts of disorders - you have NO IDEA how bad it can be. I have been, many nights, on the verge of calling an ambulance with pain that bad that I am doubled over.

A person's body can only take SO much. SO, I suppose I can't love something that much if it could be causing me this sort of misery. We'll see - I'll pray I am fine & only this one thing to contend with...

Thanks Emily.... but i have always taken Magnesium as i've studied this mineral well. Its involved in over 300 enzymaric processes in the body secound only to Vit-B6 and is a great chelator of Calcium in the Arteries and Joints. I always use Magnesium Citrate (1,000ng) daily.

Again the only time i ever cramp all over and also get burning in my intestines like i explained earlier is when i consume Oats no matter what time of day or nite.

If i could only take 3 supplements i would take Vit-C with Bioflavanoids,Vit-E as Mixed Tocopherols and Magnesium as Mag Citrate......

You have me laughing Emily....why are Bananas junk food? Is it do to their high sugar (fructose) content.....If you do not expend energy via exercise or from physical employment then i wouldn't have them. But i do HIGH Intensity exercise and also work in the Physically laborious trade industry so i need energy foods or i BONK out big time. As soon as i'm done here i'm heading to the gym to pump iron for about 45 min and its 4.30 A.M. here in Albuquerque.

I also eat lots of frozen blueberries as thats my desert and purple antiaging food with my meals. I do not eat seeds and nuts much do to their high Omega-6 content but i know Walnuts are high in Omega-3 but thanks for the pointer on them..

Well gotta go or i'll be late....

I'll be praying right along with/for you The good news is that, as I've learned thru my mom, there is now a non-gluten substitute for almost everything. Often made with rice flour. She has pasta, bread, cookies, crackers, etc. Most of the large grocery chains have gluten-free sections to make finding them easy. You can try avoiding gluten before having the test, it makes it easier using these products, and you may find that you are feeling better. Best of luck to you!

I know celiac disease has very different symptoms for everybody, but I am beginning to wonder if I have it. Last week I went to my doctor because I had a pain in my abdominal area around my intestines and he said it was most likely an ulcer acting up since I had been under a lot of stress. So he gave me a strong acid reducer, but two days later it hadn't gotten any better and I had a major panic attic, which I had not had for years and this was worse than those ones were. I went to to the ER because I had numbness in my right hand and shoulder. They did a ton of tests and ruled out the standard stuff, gall bladder, kidney, liver, infection, etc. I went to the doctor again to follow up and he did the famous exam you know where. Nothing wrong there. Last night I had a veggie burger on Nature's Own all natural whole grain bread and some applesauce for dinner. I was hurting went I went to bed. It feels like gas is trapped there and the area is bloated until I am able to let it go (sorry for the description, I just wanna get an answer from people familiar with celiac). Today I felt good when I woke up and had some flaxseed/oat cereal (no wheat) and then a banana for a morning snack. Felt fine until lunch when I had a 6" tuna sub on wheat from subway (no cheese) and a little while later my abdominal area hurt. Could this be celiac? I have read that people usually have enormous appetites with the disease, but mine is down (before it was always large though). I will probably get the endoscope done soon to figure out exactly what it is. I work pt at a natural foods store so I know all about the gluten-flee products, but I took an LOA to reduce the stress under doctor's orders. BTW, he's a good doctor knowledgeable about nutrition too. And I had major cramps in my calves before taking a Magnesium supplement. They sometimes come back if I forgot to take it, but guess what? Magnesium can irritate the stomach.

No foods have been shown to cause acne. Acne is caused by a bacteria.
